This report explores consumer shopping trends during the back to school season, offering analysis and insights derived from first-party, permissioned, data sources. The qualitative insights in this report are sourced from Attain’s real-time panel of over 7 million consumers, and the quantitative from Attain’s historical and real-time transaction data.
For this specific report, we used transaction data to analyze consumer spending behavior during the 2023 back to school season and unpack key shopping categories, including big-box stores, discount stores, department stores, and consumer-packaged goods. The transaction data referenced in this report spans from early July through mid-September 2023, revealing significant patterns in spending habits, generational shopping preferences and consumer shopping sentiment.
